Quokka
Where Creativity Comes to Life!
Nestled in the Bay Area, Quokka is more than just an illustration and textile design studio – we’re your ultimate creative collaborator. We’ll help you envision designs that are not only captivating and beautiful, but also align with your brand goals.
With Quokka you’re getting an art and design studio in one. While we are digitally savvy and our process almost always involves a computer, we specialize in handmade work. We are experts in experimentation, using all sorts of art materials and media. We believe art that’s crafted with real materials carries with it a richness of expression. There’s an air of spontaneity and unique solutions arise in the process. We arrive at a place that feels alluring and nuanced – like you’ve stumbled upon something special, that’s just for you.
From brushstroke to pixel to stitch, every detail matters. Our toolkit spans a spectrum of styles and techniques, ensuring your vision finds its perfect form. Whether it’s illustrations that tell a story or textiles that redefine comfort and style, we’ve got you covered.
Beyond the studio, we’re inspired by the beauty of nature, ALL the art books, and teaching. Another important mission at Quokka is to spread the joy of making and help others find confidence in their creative voice! Quokka Workshops came to life from this passion. We love seeing the smiling, satisfied faces leaving our Workshop events.
If you’re curious about the name, a quokka is an animal often dubbed as the happiest animal in the world. Exploring creativity and collaboration brings us the utmost joy. It’s that simple, we want to be like quokkas, so we became Quokka Co.
Step into the world of Quokka – where collaboration ignites creativity!
Meet Jess
Founder & Chief Joy Maker
In 2022, Jess made a pivotal decision: to leave her corporate design position to establish her own studio. Her background includes nearly a decade in the Product Development Studio at Pottery Barn, where she created many bestselling designs. The decade prior was spent learning a variety of aspects of the industry. She was a designer for textile manufacturers, boutique fabric ateliers, and other well-known brands like Ralph Lauren.
Her education began with a hands-on, artisan focused foundation in Textile and Apparel Design at the University of Wisconsin. This was complemented by her engagement in Fine Arts courses, which added depth to her creative pursuits. She then moved to New York City, where she pursued industry-oriented education at the Fashion Institute of Technology and embarked on her design career.
